Why a Brazer Qualification?

Are you brazing a pipe or pressure vessel? Then first check whether a qualification is required. According to various national and international standards, a Brazers Performance Qualification Record (BPQR) is mandatory. With a qualification, you, as a brazer, demonstrate that you possess a specified level of professional competence and can produce joints of sufficient quality.

You can apply for obtaining, renewing and managing your BPQR at ECH-Groep. ECH-Groep is accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA C688) based on the EN ISO/IEC 17024 standard.

Obtaining a Brazer Qualification

The BPQR is part of a personal qualification. The aim is to determine the brazing technician’s professional competence to issue a personal qualification.
ECH-Groep certifies according to the EN ISO 13585 standard. Other standards or codes are on request.

The process will proceed as follows:
After completing the application form, ECH-Groep will review and coordinate it with you. You will be guided through the complex laws and regulations to ensure a correct application that qualifies the desired brazing range. Think of material types, thicknesses, brazing positions etc.
Once the application is confirmed, ECH-Groep will ensure that the necessary arrangements and documents are transferred to a designated examiner. The candidate and examiner follow the rules outlined in the examination regulations regarding the brazing test.
Prior to the qualification, a certification agreement must be signed, after which the brazing test will be conducted.
Upon successful completion of the practical exam and the NDT (non-destructive testing)/DT (destructive testing), the personal qualification will be issued.

 

Prolongation of a Brazer Qualification

A BPQR has a limited validity period. BPQRs are provided with a (digital) prolongation sheet. On this prolongation sheet, you as a brazer, keep track of your ability to meet the qualification standards. After a certain period, the qualification must be prolonged by an accredited organization. You can use the following application form to request prolongation or recertification.
