Repair or modify pressure equipment?

Existing pressure equipment sometimes needs to be repaired to its original state. Or the pressure equipment needs to be modified to a new desired state. These repairs or modifications are assessed if the design pressure exceeds 0.5 bar and is classified in category I, II, III or IV.

What is checked?

The following aspects are checked during a repair or modification:

Repair or modification plan, what and how;
Design and construction if this is to be modified;
Equipment, welding or welder certificates;
Inspection results and/or tests;
Any safety of the pressure equipment.

Who is responsible for assessing the repair or modification of the pressure equipment?

As a user of pressure equipment you are obliged to have repairs and modifications to you pressure equipment assessed. As an installation and maintenance company you can also have this assessment carried out on behalf of the user or owner. This can make the inspection process more efficient. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment Inspectorate is responsible for supervising the inspection. View our accreditations.
